I think she's going to like this one

Costumes, haunted houses, ridiculous amounts of candy, and one of the few nights of the year when it was planned that we would be up later than normal. I can remember exploring our neighborhood with family and friends as the moon became brighter and last bits of sunlight fell behind the houses on North Sibley Street. The people on our street... some of them definitely tried their best to scare the begeezers out of us. Who of our group was brave enough to walk up to the door of the scarey house first? I remember that feeling in my stomach, like this is so scarey, but this is so FUN!

I think Madeline is just getting to that age where maybe she will start remembering these experiences, like a little snapshot in her mind of when we walk around the neighborhood and see all of the jack-o-lanterns and spider-webbing. "Woweee! Mommy, Wowee!"

So last weekend I decided it was time to pull out our Halloween decorations! Actually, Madeline pulled them out.

She now knows that two means two. When she saw the big spiders, she started shaking them and yelling TWO! TWO! TWO! The spiders were her favorite.

As all of our evenings normally go, this little taste of Halloween ended with a book. Baby girl loves to read.

One of her favorite books right now is about trick or treating. She says "tru-tree! tru-tree!" and on the last page with the ghost, she knows to say "Boo!"

We took her to the pumpkin patch last weekend. We might have to go back again this weekend. The pumpkin patches here are a BIG DEAL - big inflatable scarecrows and pumpkins, pigs and spiders made of hay bales, soooo many pumpkins, face painting, castles, pink baby pigs, bunnies, turkeys, ponies, a house of pumpkins, nice people dressed like pumpkins... Like a magic pumpkin fair.

Yes, she is going to like Halloween. Mommy is going to show her all about the magic.
