Sequim (pronounced like Skwim, not like Sequin) is located NW of Seattle, right on the Juan de Fuca Strait, just across the water (the Sound) from Victoria, Canada. In fact, we have to turn off our cell phones while there because occasionally they pick up Canadian towers (international fees - no thanks!).
A few minutes after we arrived, we took Madeline across the street to see the beach. Madeline loved it... She took her first steps on the pebbly beach very slowly, stopping to touch the sand and pick up rocks. She really wanted to get in the water. She was upset each time we pulled her back to us as the waves rolled in. It was so windy - there were several wind surfers taking advantage of the breeze. They are crazy - it was COLD!!! Madeline thought they were awesome. She loved every bit of the beach.
It's always so cool to see her experience something new for the first time. Seeing her eyes grow wide and then her little eyebrows sharpen - you can just see her trying to make sense of the world around her.

We have lots more pictures - hopefully I'll post them in the next few days.
